Game Master Expectations
Trial Game Master: Gaming Lite
Becoming a GM for the World of Ohr is an involved process. It requires writing sword & sorcery fiction, running test games while shadowed by a veteran GM, and tracking adventures. If this sounds too much, stop here.
Trial GMs are not yet eligible for Legacy Game Master Rewards.
Requirements for OLC GMs
- Write a piece of fiction set in the World of Ohr.
- Run three trial games within one month.
- Pass an interview with the OLC council regarding lore and rules.
- Read the entire Torches in the Dark booklet.
Game Master Obligations
- Have an adventure planned with a mix of combat, RP, and story.
- Schedule events on the calendar 1 week in advance.
- Arrive 30 minutes early to gather players.
- Review character sheets and welcome new players.
- Run adventures that respect the lore of Ohr.
Managing Disruption
- Harassment: Deal with immediately.
- Backseat Gaming: Discourage players from commanding others.
- Rules Lawyering: Do not let rule debates stop the game flow.
- Unwanted PvP: Ensure all conflict is consensual.
Character Death
Ohr is a dangerous world. Death is real and necessary for risk. However, for new players, instant death can be discouraging. Each character is given a single 'Fate Point' to stave off death once.
Total party kills happen. Players who complain disruptively about death are violating the social contract. Death happens—roll a new character!
